Family Spotlight, meet Derrick Shepard

Family spotlight posts are where we can read and learn about our family members, the descendants of The Mighty 12. Our first family spotlight feature is Derrick Shepard.  

Derrick is a descendant of James Shepard and is the son of Randolph (Doc) Shepard. He lives in Levittown PA. Members of Derrick’s immediate family are his wife Loren and his daughter Amber and son Benjamin (Pop).

Derrick proudly shares that his father, Doc, made homemade beef sausages that everyone loved. His  mother Irene at one time worked for the NYC Board of Education as a summer school math teacher. She had a long career with Broadcast Music, Inc (BMI). His sister Fathiyah (Fay) served in the US Airforce and is currently developing an African Cultural Center in Nashville TN. His brother Roderick (Rod) is a multi-talented musician and educator of music at Montclair State University in NJ . He also owns his own recording studio in Hoboken, NJ. Derrick is a retired locomotive engineer and training instructor at Amtrak and has been a motorcoach driver since 1981. He currently drives part time for Starr Tours of NJ. His daughter Amber works with Autistic children and his son Benjamin is an elevator repair technician for the NYC Housing Authority.
